The reason many of us attend college is simple. We all want to have, not just a future, but also a better future. I realize that to have a better future, you have to choose a path. There are three paths that I strongly want to consider. My first path has led towards the Missouri School of Journalism. Here I want to study sports journalism. I have been interested in mixed martial arts and boxing for as long I’ve known. My love for these sports is not limited to just watching and writing about them, but also to practicing and participating in boxing and Brazilian Jiu Jitsu. Ultimately, I want to pursue a career in announcing or reporting on one of these two sports. I have done radio broadcasting for 3 years in high school and also I have written articles on mixed martial arts for a CBS sports affiliate online. These two put together or viewed separately will give me a leg up on the other students interested in the same area as I am. In addition to this, I believe that my passion for the sport outside of reporting will give me another advantage. By being a boxer and Brazillian Jiu Jitsu practitioner, I have knowledge of how these sports are scored, viewed, and carried out. The second path I have wanted to consider is to become an entertainment lawyer. In doing so, I would be able to also keep up with another passion of mine, music. The other type of entertainment law that would be quite intriguing is becoming a lawyer for mixed martial arts or boxing promotions. Pursuing this career in law would allow me to keep up with sports or music. The third and final path is simply writing. I have always read and loved fantasy, mystery, sci-fi, and many other types of fiction. I have been writing things like poetry and short stories for as long as I can remember. This is another career that I can sincerely see myself pursuing. Luckily, I have time to decide which path I truly want. Hopefully, through college I will find a path that makes me happy and leads me towards a better future.
